I love this stamp since I tend to embody the geek spirit. It's nice to know that someone out there recognizes that geeks need stamps too.
Like your description noted, the stamp is very simple. I don't think that makes it lame though. It is very basic. With that in mind I would offer two critiques.
First, I would suggest increasing the size of the font the text is written in so that the letters stretch closer to the edges of the stamp. This would accomplish two things. Number one, it would make the letters more visible and readable. And number two, it would make the stamp seem more used and full.
Second, I would suggest finding a symbol that describes geek pride. Don't use rainbows, or you'll only attract gay geeks. You can see one such geek symbol in my avatar. It's called a hacker glider, and you can read the explanation for the hacker glider at [link]
Google suggested a couple other symbols when I Google'd for "geek symbol". Among the most notable, was an off-on power symbol [link] and the symbol for Pi. Either of those three choices would work great for describing geeks.
Don't be afraid to create layers and make the stamp animated if you run out of space in trying these suggestions.
This stamp looks like a great beginning. I look forward to seeing more in the future. Good job.
